Speech of our President, Dr. M. Halley, on the occasion of the opening of the new academic year 2017 - 2018

Dear staff of the Foundation Catholic Education.

Good morning and welcome to the 2017-2018 school year. A special welcome to all of our new staff. You have chosen a unique and dynamic place to work and we are happy to have you as part of the team.

A new school year is always a time filled with promises and possibilities…fresh opportunities to learn, grow and inspire.

Last school year your hard work has produced substantial and meaningful improvements for our students. And all this makes me believe that we can and will do even better this year. So, there is much work to be done. The challenges rests with all of us, and our achievement will depend on how we approach the work as of next week.

Some students will come next week, highly motivated while others will bring along heavy burdens. Some of them may be challenging to engage with and be very oppositional.

How we respond can make all the difference in the world to them. We need to interpret their actions as if they are testing us in how much we really care.

So, we are here together in this special place, through this Holy Mass, to ask for the strength and blessings as we face interesting times as educators.

I look forward to working together to tend the growing minds and souls entrusted to our care in this coming school year. It goes without saying that the School Board is very appreciative of your dedication and wish you all continued strength, patience and motivation as we strive to guide each and every of our students to success. Let us never forget that teaching our students is our main goal.

My best wishes for a great start.
